- A Poem on Selfish and Selfless -
- By The Validiot -
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Angles dwell in matted hair
Lost amid the carnival’s flair
Selfish receives rapt attention
Selfless gives singular detection
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
To watch this pair
Walk among the excited crowd
You might think, excitement is not their share
With every glance, a delicate shroud
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Selfish is an odd one in many ways
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Indignant when told to wait
Annoying in almost every state
Yet always quick to speak their mind
If something is lost, they are quick to find
Known as individualistic, that is their sign
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Selfless is odder in many ways
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Patient to an endless fault
Calm no matter the result
So quiet, it is difficult to know their mind
If something is lost, they are quick to find
Known as wholehearted, that is their sign
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
When together it is a marvelous thing
See them arm in arm and listen as they sing
Listen to their cheerful laughter
And wonder what they will do after
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
A strange pair make, these two friends
So often have thought to have not made amends
In truth, two siblings whose love for each other is who they are
There is no place in their hearts that can be made to be far
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
Truthful is as truthful does
So our poem is at an end
Not much but some words of fuzz
Lend or send if you like, new friend
— — — — — — — — — — — — —
